BMS-BarcoVision at FAKUMA 2009 : In Pursuit of Productivity

BarcoVision’s PlantMaster system is in use in over 400 plastics processing sites worldwide and supports plant management in achieving the highest possible efficiency and quality levels. The latest PlantMaster release meets the most demanding customers and proves BarcoVision’s commitment to always adapt its product to the latest technologies and manufacturing standards.

One of the revolutionary new developments is the availability with a full backup and recovery mode. All latest generation wireless data capturing terminals can now be equipped with an additional storage capacity for local storage of all collected data in case of server breakdown or power failure. A period of up to 24 hours of server breakdown can be bridged without any loss of information.

As Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) continues to gain acceptance as an effective method to measure production performance, PlantMaster now also includes the worldwide accepted OEE reporting standard for efficiency and quality monitoring.

The planning and scheduling module in the PlantMaster system has been extended to cope with today’s plastics industry requirements. With the support for KanBan based production, PlantMaster fully fits in the automotive suppliers' logistics concept. With the new “Tool configurator”, production planners can now configure their tools during the scheduling process, based on actual demands and availability of tools and frames. The “Tool configurator” keeps track of all frames and inserts used in the plant.

To meet with the demands from suppliers to the automotive, food and pharmacy industry, a very powerful software module for traceability is available as an option. This module is seamlessly integrated with the scheduling, monitoring and SPC applications.

BarcoVision will also show its latest development: The EnergyMaster module for real time monitoring of energy consumption in the plant. In view of the ever rising energy costs, BarcoVision developed this module as a diagnostic tool which measures consumption in real time resulting in a better knowledge of the energy flows in the plant. Based on the principle of “Monitoring & Targeting”, EnergyMaster allows to identify optimization potentials and to set realistic goals for energy budgets. Implementation of EnergyMaster has proven savings on the energy bill in the range of 10 to 15%.
