Concordia uses EnergyMaster in Dyeing & Finishing
Concordia Textiles (Waregem, Belgium) is a large producer of synthetic fabrics and a long standing customer of BarcoVision. Recently, Concordia successfully implemented EnergyMaster in their dyeing and finishing operation.Energy consumption is one of the most important factors in the cost of finishing a fabric. Concordia has automated all dyeing machines and uses SedoMaster as dye house management system for the batch dyeing machines as well as for the finishing machines. SedoMaster is linked to the color management system and to the dispensers. Concordia has full control over all processes. With EnergyMaster the consumption of power, steam, gas and water is now also logged in the database of the SedoMaster system.
In total, Concordia has installed meters to monitor the consumption of electricity, water, gas and steam. Most of the meters are directly connected to the SedoMat controller on each individual machine. Other meters are installed in the boiler room, the power stations and the cool water recovery. These meters are connected to a dedicated SedoMat or to a data unit for transmission of the meter readings to the central system. Just a few points have a manual meter and the readings of these meters are entered manually in the system (by means of a PDA).
Through the SedoMaster, Concordia can see the consumption of chemical products and machine time for each batch through the various process steps. With the addition of EnergyMaster, this information is completed with the consumption values of the various utilities. As a result they can determine the process cost in their finishing operation for each batch.
In addition, EnergyMaster reports the various consumptions of energy in a number of typical reports, such as the PCL (performance characteristic line) and SEC (specific energy consumption). Using the counter reports exceptional consumption of utilities can be detected which enables the plant engineer to find the reason and stop the spillage.
