Barco introduces new logistics software module for its textiles Manufacturing Execution System

Barco is proud to announce the introduction of its textile oriented logistics software package. This new software allows weaving, knitting and carpet mills to interface their ERP system with the Barco WEAVEMASTER monitoring module, providing perfect integration of the WEAVEMASTER Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with any ERP software package.

Many ERP systems do not fully answer the typical needs of the textile industry. They do not allow drilling down from a customer order to the lowest fabric component, leaving managers on the production floor with imperfect or incomplete information and tools.

The WeaveMaster / logistics software module extends the WEAVEMASTER MES system with essential textile logistics functionality not normally covered by a generic ERP system. The system, interfacing between the ERP system and the real-time monitoring system, provides answers to questions such as: how much yarn do I have to dye for a given color? Where is the yarn located? How many small leftover yarn packages can be recuperated? What is the origin of this yarn? When and where has it been dyed?

The ERP system downloads manufacturing orders to WEAVEMASTER’s “Plan Board” and from there the yarn requirement calculations for greige and dyed yarn, the formation of dye lots, the inventory of greige and dyed yarns, the yarn reservations, the planning of the warp preparation and weaving are handled by WeaveMaster / logistics. Any required automatic feedback to the ERP system is provided in real-time.

A powerful yarn management tool is part of the new functionality. The software includes yarn contract and dye-lot based yarn multi-warehouse inventory management with special attention to yarn reservation, yarn traceability, yarn status and the re-use of small leftover packages. The documents for warehouse personnel contain barcode identification and can easily be customized to fit the situation of the operation.

Installed WEAVEMASTER systems can be upgraded to incorporate all the benefits of WeaveMaster / logistics.
